Chapter 1: Ruined Forever

Heath barely remembers meeting his great uncle Chester Brannon, but when the old man died, he left him a cottage by the shore of Storybrook County. Having just graduated with no serious plans for his future, Heath took the sudden inheritance as a sign, or at least, something do, and bought a one way ticket to a town he'd never even seen before.

The house isn't much, just one room with a bathroom, intended as a summer rental and not a real residence. But Heath doesn't really need more than the basics; despite the spectacular view, he doesn't plan on spending a lot of time at home.

Before he made the trip out here, he contacted one of the local club owners, looking for a performance gig. The cash he'd collected from various relatives as graduations gifts wouldn't last long, and he'd need to find work, preferably as a singer. The owner of Doug's Hangout promised him such work, so the first thing he does once he's unpacked is hop on his bike and set out for the club.

Seeing a hot blonde standing around her front yard, Heath stops to introduce himself. Her name, she tells him, is Ashlynn Murphy. Heath isn't lying when he chats about his love of gardening; he truly does have a green thumb. But it's a little known fact that certain hand gestures will make a chick's libido kick in without her being truly conscious of it, and Heath has found that talking about his plantings nearly always gets him laid. It's just that simple.

"So, where are you headed, Heath?" Ashlynn asks, her voice taking on a sultry purr. It's the hand gestures, they work every time.

"Doug's Hangout," he answers, "I'm supposed to be getting a job there."

"Let me give you a ride," she offers. Heath, of course, agrees.

"Are you from Storybrook?' he asks her, just to make conversation.

"No, I moved here about a year ago," she answers,  offering no further information about where she came from or why she chose this place as her home. Not one to pry, Heath doesn't ask, instead telling her about his unexpected inheritance.

Once at Doug's Hangout, Heath finds the proprietor and introduces himself, "You said you could give me a gig here," he reminds her.

She chortles in response, "Oh, no, I couldn't just let you perform here, not without stage experience. We've just started a new Sing-o-gram service and need performers for that job. You'll be paid per sing-o-gram, plus a weekly stipend. Maybe, if you do very well, maybe we'll let you take the stage here."

It's not what Heath expected, but it is better than nothing, so he takes the job.

Ashlynn followed him into the club, so he orders some onion rings for them to share. Might as well celebrate the promised steady income by blowing a little a cash.

While he orders, Ashlynn gives some serious thought to dragging him up to the photo booth, ripping off his clothes and having her way with him.

"There's more onion rings at the bar," Heath suggests to the proprietor, who joined them at the table like an unneeded third wheel. She continues reading, ignoring him and the awkwardness of the situation.

Ashlynn's opportunity when Heath suggests they get a few photos, but she gets a hold of herself and realizes that public sex with a guy that just blew into town this morning won't do much for her reputation, and they stick with some cutesy romantic pictures.

"It's getting late," she says, looking at the clock behind the bar.

"Can I see you again tomorrow?" Heath asks.

"I get off work at 9pm," she says, giving him her number, "Can I get a kiss before you go?" Ashlynn is a great kisser and she knows it; once he kisses her, he'll never forget her. Or at least, he won't blow off their date.

Heath finds himself very impressed with Ashlynn's kissing skills, and looks forward to seeing her as soon as possible.

They gave him a ridiculous uniform and a pager, telling him would be on call and to be ready to deliver congratulations and condolences in song at any moment. While he waits, Heath sings for tips in the park. The practice is good for him, and it will make him more recognizable to the locals.

"You aren't seriously thinking of giving this vagrant money?" Brandi chides her husband.

"Well, I was thinking about it," Skip admits.

"Maybe you could start thinking about getting a real job," she suggests.

Heath doesn't notice Ashlynn's arrival, toddler on her arm, but she notices him. Well, you can't really miss him, singing there in that ridiculous outfit. At least his ass looks good in those pants, Ashlynn consoles herself.

Ashlynn watches him busking away, and begins to rethink her plans. The last thing she needs is some no account loser in her life. Then she thinks about the kiss they shared, and decides he's worth at least a few dates. It's not like she had any other real prospects lined up.

When Heath notices her there, he approaches. "You didn't tell me you had a kid," he says, getting right to it.

"You didn't tell me your 'job' was playing for tips in the park," she shoots back.

Heath laughs, "You got me there. But that's not really my job, I'm just doing that for the extra cash. My real gig is sing-o-grams."

"Sing-o-grams?"

Heath demonstrates the sing-o-gram for her.

"And people pay you for that?" Ashlynn asks, incredulous.

"Well, so far, no, I haven't gotten any assignments. But I get a stipend even if I don't get gigs."

"Are we still on for tonight?" Heath asks.

"Yes, I think so," Ashlynn answers, checking out his ass again, "I better get going now, my shift starts in an hour, and I need to get Shasta home for the sitter. Come by my place around 9."

They part with a deep kiss.

Moments after she leaves, Heath finally gets a call for a sing-o-gram, for a teen named Dustin Broke, who got yelled at today. His mother thought a sing-o-gram would cheer him up.

Humiliated by having a weird dude in a stupid costume singing at him, Dustin goes to hide in the bushes, hoping no one from school saw that.

Unfortunately for Dustin, his girlfriend had the same idea as his mother and also paid for a sing-o-gram, and this one comes with a pink stuffed toy. Dustin's life is ruined forever by this double dose of humiliation. RUINED FOREVER.

Heath arrives at Ashlynn's place at 9 sharp, catching her just as she getting in.

"Wow, your uniform is as bad as mine," he says, fearing as the words come out that it might not be a uniform but her actual taste in clothes he's just made fun of.

"Yeah," she sighs, "I'm a snack hawker at the stadium. We have to wear the team mascot. I was just about to jump in the shower. Care to join me?"

The hand gestures always work, Heath thinks as he follows Ashlynn into the shower.

Ashlynn is dead tired after their romp in the water, so they don't bother going out at all, instead just falling asleep together in her bed. Heath wakes before she does to find Shasta awake as well.

"All right little girl," Heath says gently, "Let's see if I can get you squared away without waking up your poor mother. She needs some sleep."

Heath gets Shasta dressed, bathed and in a clean diaper and finds a bottle for her in the fridge. Before he leaves, her jots an affectionate note for Ashlynn, saying he hopes to see her again that night.

Not wanting to be stuck doing these sing-o-grams forever, Heath auditions for the park's proprietor that afternoon.

"Sure, I can give you a gig," he says, "We have a slot open tomorrow at 7pm. Just, don't wear that ridiculous outfit."

Ashlynn calls him while he's playing for tips a few minutes later and asks him to come by her place at 9pm, just like last night."

After the sun sets, before it's time to meet Ashlynn, Heath wanders over to the neighboring house, currently unoccupied. Whoever owns the place just left all this nice stuff sitting out on their back. Since they aren't around to use it, surely they won't mind if Heath 'borrows' it for awhile.

At 9pm, Heath is at Ashlynn's door.

By 9:15, he's in her bed.

Since she got such a good night's sleep the night before, she's not as exhausted this evening and they spend hours chatting in her bedroom, after they've made love a few times. She tells him a lot about the people in town, places to go for fun, places to avoid, saying little about herself, her history. Heath wants to ask her about her daughter, who Shasta's father is and what happened there, but he's never had that kind of conversation with a girl, and doesn't really know where to start.

Once again, Heath comes home in the early hours to shower and prepare for a day of busking and possible sing-o-grams, and of course, for his gig this evening, his first real stage performance, not counting high school musicals. Just as he gotten dressed, he hears a frantic pounding on his door.

"Hey, sweetheart," he greets Ashlynn cheerily, "Can't get enough of me?" His smile disappears as he sees her frown.

"I hate to have to this, I really do," she sighs, "But I just got evicted this morning. My ex...he hasn't paid the mortgage in a year. I had no idea, I thought everything was taken care of. And now the bank is foreclosing and I have no where to go. Could Shasta and I crash here with you? It's just for a few days, until I can get on my feet and get us a new place."

"Of course you can stay," Heath says without thought, never one to turn a friend in need down.

I takes a few minutes to sink in that Ashlynn is not just a friend in need, she's the girl he's been sleeping with, and he knows almost nothing about her or this ex who left her suddenly homeless.

So welcome to yet another random legacy. I just couldn't stay away.
Yes, Heath is a clone of Riain from my Summerdream story. The name Heath Brannon was rolled at random, in the CAS name generator. And since my Misc. Fun is Random Traits, those are all random as well.
I'm playing in Storybrook County, by My Sim Realty. I'm using the unpopulated version, but I did grab a few families from the pre-populated save file of that town to bring to this version. Ashlynn Murphy and her daughter Shasta are from that populated version. Though I did edit Ashlynn a little, especially the breasts, which were all the way to the right on the slider. As you can see, I went for smaller breasts.
I've decided in this legacy not to reveal my rolls until they've come to pass in the legacy, so there's less spoilers. Maybe you think you can guess what the marital structure is for this generation. Maybe you'd be wrong.

  1. Love it! This seems like such a fun legacy type. All based on chance and (mis)fortune just like the uniforms. ^_^

That is the fun thing about the Random Legacy Challenge, your Sim's career, marital structure, number of children are all rolled by chance, and, if you choose to blog it, you have make some kind of story for it.
I do love doing my other stories, but those aren't really played games, it's all staged with poses for a predetermined plot. So it's refreshing to go back to a played legacy where, even though I do have a general plot I'm carrying out to fulfill the generation roll, I can also just let random weird stuff happen, and let Sims be Sims.

  2. Yay! A new legacy!

I always love how you write about the sims' traits. =)

*pouts at the lack of spoilers*

It's great to be back in legacy mode.
Sorry about keeping everything secret, but I have found sometimes in reading other legacies that foreknowledge can affect the way you read the stories. So I think it will be better this way. And don't worry, it will all probably come out by chapter 3. So, stay tuned! =D

    2. Oh, I liked seeing Brandi and Skip Broke. And Dustin. Lol.

I hope poor Skip fares better in your legacy than in Sims 2. x.x

    3. I always had a thing for Brandi Broke. Skip will probably be okay, I don't really ever see my non-controlled Sims dying of anything but old age. Which will probably be the case for Skip before Seasons shows up with it's spontaneous combustion (Which I'm going to get rid of with mods ASAP).
I did give him Unlucky and Hydrophobic as traits, lol.
Dustin did get dumped by his girlfriend the day after the two sing-o-grams.

  3. This should be fun to watch. Ashlynn and Brannon are moving along and how living together. There's a story with her somehow.

This relationship has taken a suddenly serious turn for a guy with commitment issues. And Ashlynn definitely has a story she's been keeping to herself.

  4. New legacy yay! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Ashlynn's back story... honestly a little nervous of what it could mean for Heath! I like how you're keeping the rolls a secret even in the current generation. I often find myself waiting for a certain part of a roll to come to pass, but this way it will be more fun to read!

    1. Thanks, Maddie,
I'm the same way, when I know the roll for a legacy I'm reading, I'm always waiting for the rolled event to happen.
Ashlynn's back story will come out sooner or later.

  5. This is an awesome start to your legacy! I'm really excited to see where the story goes. The secret rolls idea is a clever one, I hadn't thought of that! It will certainly bring up the suspense a notch or two.

    1. Thanks, Hayley!
I can't take credit for the cleverness, though. I don't remember who the first person was to not reveal their rolls until the end of the generation, but somebody did it before me. Though, I won't wait to the end of the generation, just until it's not a spoiler anymore.

  6. I came back and read this one and had lots of laughs....especially at appearance of the Brokes and Brandi's comment considering her plight in TS2. I am wondering about Ash's past as well now...especially since I first read chapter three hmmm. Now on to two and can't wait for four.

I loved Brandi Broke's family, and I loved sticking my Sims 3 version of them in my legacy towns.

What is Ashlynn hiding?! Her ex sounds like a downright jerk (just throwing that in there).

  8. Well if you're living in someone else's house its up to you to make sure everything is paid off... >_>

Anyway, SO excited you've started a new legacy and I can't wait to read the rest! I really like Heath so far.

    1. In some divorces, part of the child support arrangement will have the absentee parent paying for the housing of the child(ren) directly. In cases like that, the parent who isn't paying the mortgage/rent would not necessarily have access to the bills and would not be notified of late or non-payments until it was too late.
I actually came up with this scenario because I've seen it happen in real life.

  9. Hi, I'm catching up - so glad you're starting a new legacy... I follow along better from the start, and going back to read your old stories was going to take me FORever!

I laughed really hard at Heath's sing-o-gram to that poor kid Dustin, that was awesome!

I also like the 'hiding' of the legacy rolls idea for suspense ... keeps the reader guessing a lot more than the expected results. Mine is currently having that problem. I -know- I have to get rid of my legacy founder's first partner because I rolled second chance, but it would have probably been nice if readers didn't know that because now I'm getting attached to her too! =(

I thought Heath looked familiar, and hot, so when I saw that you said it was Riain from Summerdream, I was like.. ooohhh that's where he's from. XD I'm very glad you cloned Riain.
